| Day 1 |
Scheduled
flight to Tripoli and transfer to the hotel Al Kabir in the
centre of town. In the afternoon join our walking tour of
the centre of Tripoli – get an impression of this
fascinating city with its long and changing history. Dinner
in a local restaurant and overnight at the hotel. |

| Day 2 |
After
breakfast visit the National Museum on the Green Square, it
houses the largest collection of Roman mosaics in the world
and gives an interesting insight into Tripolitania’s
colourful past. After a light lunch we head for Leptis Magna
- one of the most spectacular Roman sites along the
Mediterranean coast. Let your guide explain how the Romans
lived in this part of their empire and what their favourite
pastimes were. Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight at
the hotel. |

| Day 3 |
In the
morning, join an excursion to Sabratha, a UNESCO World
Heritage site on the coast not far from Tripoli. The whole
site but the remains of the theatre and the museum in
particular can only be described as stunning – but even
superlatives cannot do Sabratha justice – it has to be seen.
Return to Tripoli after a light lunch to visit the medina
(old town) together with your guide in the afternoon. He
will show you the different traders and craftsmen and has a
few stories to tell about the medina as a centre for
wheeling and dealing in Tripoli. Dinner at local restaurant
and overnight at the hotel. |

| Day 4 |
Today you
can go back to the old town on your own to do some shopping
for souvenirs – your hotel is just five minutes away -or
just wander around to get enticed by the confusing array of
streets and alleyways in the medina. Another option is to
visit the former British and French embassies, meticulously
restored buildings from the 17th and 18th century, with
their peaceful gardens a haven of tranquillity in this
bustling city. After a light lunch catch your transfer to
the airport for your flight back home. |
